Star striker Son Heung-min of the English Premier League's (EPL) Tottenham Hotspur is on the league's best team of the season's first half. 

Son on Jan. 8 appeared on "Alan Shearer's Team of the Season so far" on the EPL's official website. 

Through 20 weeks of the season, Shearer, one of the best players in EPL history, has made his picks for the EPL's top 11 players every week based on their stats. Son was named left striker on the team in a 4-2-4 formation.

"He’s a special talent," Shearer said of Son. "When he gets the ball in front of goal, I have no doubt he will score."

The same day, Spurs picked Son's score on Dec. 31 in a home game against Bournemouth as the club's top goal of last month.

Son has 12 goals and five assists in 20 games this season, tied for third in goals in the EPL with Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth.
