Team Korea won 13 gold medals and finished eighth in the overall medal standings at the Paris Summer Olympics.

The national team on Aug. 11 completed the competition with 13 golds, nine silvers and 10 bronzes.

The 13 golds tied Korea's record high set in the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Games.

The national archery team -- Kim Woojin (Cheongju City Hall), Lim Sihyeon (Korea National Sport University) Kim Je Deok (Yecheon-gun Office), Jeon Hunyoung (Incheon City Hall), Lee Wooseok (Kolon Sports) and Nam Suhyeon (Suncheon City Hall) -- won all five golds to sweep the men's and women's singles, teams and mixed doubles events. Among them, Kim Woojin and Lim each won three golds.

Shooting produced the second-highest number of golds for Korea with three. Oh Yejin (Industrial Bank of Korea) defied expectations by winning the women's 10 m air pistol, while high schooler Ban Hyojin claimed the women's 10 m air rifle and Yang Jiin the women's individual 25 m pistol.

In fencing, the country won two golds and a silver in a successful changing of the generational guard. Oh Sang-uk (Daejeon City Hall) won two golds in the men's individual and team sabre.

Turning to badminton, An Se Young (Samsung Life Insurance) won the women's singles title at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena, the first Korean to take the gold in the event since Bang Soo-hyun in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Taekwondo led the nation's gold rush in the Paris Games' second half. Park Taejoon (Kyung Hee University) won the men's 58-kg class while Kim Yujin (Ulsan Metropolitan City Sports Council) secured victory in the women's 57-kg category.

With nine gold, three silver and nine bronze, Korea also finished in the top 10 in the overall medal count for the first time since the 2016 Rio Games.
