The national soccer team has defeated Oman in their second game of the third Asian qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The Taegeuk Warriors on Sept. 10 won their Group B match, 3-1, at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, Oman.

Korea took the lead in the 10th minute after Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton Wanderers) opened the scoring. Oman tied it late in the first half, however, after Jung Seung-hyun scored an own goal off a free kick.

In the 82nd minute, Son Heung-min, captain of both the national team and England's Tottenham Hotspur, broke the tie and Joo Min-kyu added an insurance goal seven minutes later to ensure victory. Son finished the game with a goal and two assists.

Following its win and a Sept. 5 scoreless draw with Palestine in its first group game, Korea has one win and one tie.

The Taegeuk Warriors will play their third group game on Oct. 10 in Jordan and host their fourth against Iraq on Oct. 15.
