The esports team T1 has won an unprecedented third consecutive world title at the League of Legends (LoL) World Championship.

This victory is the team's sixth championship overall, extending their record streak for the most by a squad in the event's history.

Domestic media said T1 in an all-Korean final on Nov. 9 defeated KT Rolster, 3-2, at Dong'an Lake Sports Park in Chengdu, China. T1 comprises captain Faker (Lee Sang-hyeok), Oner (Moon Hyeon-jun), Gumayusi (Lee Min-hyeong), Keria (Ryu Min-seok) and Doran (Choi Hyeon-joon).

LoL is a strategy game in which two teams with five players each compete to destroy first the opposing squad's "nexus."

Dubbed the "World Cup of esports," the LoL tournament is the world's biggest for esport, attracting top teams that qualify through regional leagues. The final in London last year attracted over 500 million viewers worldwide.

T1 claimed its first world title in 2013 and again in 2015 and 2016. Since 2023, the team has won three straight in a first since the competition's launch in 2011.

In this tournament, four Korean teams -- KT Rolster of LoL Champions Korea, Hanwha Life Esports, Gen.G and T1 -- advanced to the quarterfinals.
