The mixed doubles team of Lim Jonghoon and Shin Yubin has made history at this year's World Table Tennis (WTT) Finals in Hong Kong.

The duo on Dec. 13 beat Wang Chuquin and Sun Yingsha, 3-0 (11-9, 11-8, 11-6) as the first Korean team to win the WTT title. The competition is limited to the top-ranked players based on the WTT series Grand Smash, Champions and Contender rankings.

The Lim-Shin team had gone 0-6 against their Wang-Sun counterpart before this meet, but the former broke its winless streak against the latter in their seventh matchup.

Ranked the world's No. 2 mixed doubles team, Lim and Shin in the semifinals defeated the top-ranked tandem of Lin Shidong and Kuai Man, 3-1, and used a bold offensive strategy to win the title over the No. 3 Wang-Sun duo.
