The main delegation of the national team for the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in Italy on Jan. 31 arrived in Milan.

Thirty-eight members including team leader Lee Soo-kyung arrived at Milan Malpensa Airport, with seven competing in sledding events stopping over in Paris en route to the Italian resort town of Cortina.

The delegation will move to the athletes' villages in Milan and Cortina to adjust to the time difference and their physical conditions.

Team Korea's 130-strong contingent including 71 athletes is aiming for three gold medals and 10th overall.

The country's Olympic quest officially begins on the morning of Feb. 5 in mixed doubles curling at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium. The opening ceremony is set for Feb. 7 at San Siro Stadium.

Some 2,900 athletes from around 90 countries will compete in eight events to vie for a combined 116 gold medals.
