The national soccer team has edged El Salvador, 1-0, in its final tuneup ahead of the FIFA World Cup soccer finals in North America.

Led by head coach Hong Myung-bo, the Taegeuk Warriors on June 3 prevailed 1-0 at South Field of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Midfielder Lee Dong-gyeong scored the game's lone goal in the 57th minute on a left-footed free kick.

Korea thus posted its second consecutive win in pre-World Cup friendlies, following a 5-0 shutout of Trinidad and Tobago on May 31.

After finishing its training camp with the win, the team will take a day off on June 5 before moving the next day to Guadalajara, Mexico, where Korea will play its first two Group A games.
