This year's World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships kicked off on Sept. 15 in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do Province, attracting the world's top poomsae (forms) competitors.
National teams on Sept. 12 began arriving in the city to complete registration and begin acclimatization training.
The opening ceremony was held on Sept. 15, along with the groundbreaking for the new World Taekwondo headquarters, at the Songam Sports Town Air Dome within Songam Sports Town.
To run from Sept. 16-20, the tournament has 2,269 athletes from 85 countries competing in 42 events like recognized and freestyle poomsae.
