President Park Geun-hye held discussions with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach on the successful hosting of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics 2018, at Cheong Wa Dae on September 18.

The IOC president told President Park to look forward to the Incheon Asian Games opening ceremony. He added that he is, “looking forward to seeing the much bigger sporting event to be held in Korea in 2018.”

Park told the IOC head that, “The Incheon Asian Games hold significance as all 45 member countries take part in it. I will do my best to support the success and safety of the games.”

The IOC president and his entourage, including Gunilla Lindberg, chair of the PyeongChang 2018 Coordination Commission, visited Korea to attend the opening ceremony of the Incheon Asian Games 2014, scheduled for September 19.

Other attendees at the meeting included IOC Sports Director and Deputy Olympic Games Executive Director Christophe Dubi, President of the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) Kim Jung-haeng and KOC Vice President Cho Yang-ho.

Bach visited Cheong Wa Dae to meet President Park last November when they discussed sports cooperation as well as the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
