President Park Geun-hye and Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb shake hands at Cheong Wa Dae on November 20.
"Prime Minister Stubb has a goal to make Finland the best place to be born, to live and to finish one's life by 2017, the 100th anniversary of the country's foundation," said President Park. "The Korean government also has a policy objective to enhance the happiness of the Korean people and we have been making various efforts in that regard."
"Despite its geographic location, Finland has a well-developed culture of its own. The country quickly recovered from recession in the 1990s and has focused on information technology industries ever since, showing many similarities with Korea. I hope that the two nations, with many similarities, can strengthen their exchanges and cooperation in the future," Park said.

"When I received my Ph.D. in 1997, I went to Korea, the first Asian country I ever visited, to attend an international relations seminar," replied Prime Minister Stubb. "This time, I also chose Korea as my first Asian destination. Korea and Finland have many similarities in many ways and I respect many aspects of the country."
