A trial digital television service has started in Paraguay, as a digital broadcasting system has now been established there using Korean technologies.
A digital broadcasting system consisting of Korean equipment was set up at Paraguay TV, the national television station, in Asunción, the capital, announced the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning on December 19.
The pilot service is part of the science ministry's project to supply digital broadcasting equipment, and it has so far provided related equipment and technological consultations to those nations preparing to launch digital broadcasting services.

Paraguay intends to gradually turn to digital broadcasting beginning in 2015. The science ministry and the Korea Radio Promotion Association have set up digital broadcasting systems that consist of Korea-made equipment in San Lorenzo, Paraguay, and provided related training on how to use the equipment.
There was a ceremony to mark the beginning of the trial service on December 17. "I am very grateful for Korea's support for digital broadcasting and related technologies and that it has offered Paraguay a chance to quickly turn to digital broadcasting," said Fabrizio Caligaris, head of the Secretaría de Información Comunicación (SICOM), during the ceremony. "Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes also expressed his gratitude, and we hope for continued cooperation with Korea in the future."
