President Park Geun-hye gave a certificate of appointment to newly appointed Prime Minister Lee Wan-koo.
After formally handing over the certificate at Cheong Wa Dae on February 17, President Park said, "There are piles of reform tasks ahead of us. With his many years of experience and leadership, I hope that Prime Minister Lee Wan-koo will carry them all out very well."

In a cabinet meeting later in the day, President Park said, "Please carry out this administration's policies for economic revival and reform in four major sectors, which we promised to the public earlier this year. Please do so quickly so that we can accomplish actual results. Most of all, we need a major agreement by March on issues regarding the improvement of the labor market structure, as discussed by the committee of labor, business and government in order to create jobs for young adults and to solve problems experienced by contract workers."
"I also ask that the ruling and opposition parties agree on reforming the national pension fund for public servants by the date previously agreed," said President Park. "I hope that the ruling party, the government and Cheong Wa Dae cooperate on passing these legislation proposals so that economic revival will arrive as quickly as possible."

When he started his career, Prime Minister Lee Wan-koo passed the state-administered exam to become a public servant. Later, he became the commissioner for the provincial policy agency of Chungcheongnam-do (South Chungcheong Province) and its provincial governor. He was a three-time congressman representing the ruling Saenuri Party.
