Educational reference books about Dokdo Island, including photographs and maps, have now been published.

"Meet our Land Dokdo Island" and "East Sea and Dokdo through Maps and Photos" will both be distributed to all elementary, middle and high schools across the country. They will also be available at Korean embassies and consulates and at Korean cultural and educational centers across the world.

The new "Meet our Land Dokdo Island," an update of the 2011 edition, will be used as reference material in classrooms. A total of 15,000 copies will be distributed to elementary, middle and high schools across the country beginning in the spring semester. A digital copy of the book will also be uploaded to the Northeast Asian History Foundation homepage (www.historyfoundation.or.kr) so that teachers and students can easily access the information.

"Meet our land Dokdo Island" and "East Sea and Dokdo through Maps and Photos" published by the Northeast Asian History Foundation will be distributed to schools around the country.

Some 60 old documents and maps showing that Dokdo Island is a Korean territory and related photographs can be easily searched on the book. The magnified versions of old documents are designed to help enhanced learning. Along with natural environment and history of Dokdo, the book also contains information on the East Sea and Ulleungdo Island so that readers can figure out Korea's maritime territories.

Korean and English explanations are included in the "East Sea and Dokdo through Maps and Photos" to help non-Koreans learn about Dokdo Island and the East Sea. The book will be distributed to Korean cultural and educational centers, overseas Korean schools, Korean consulates and embassies and non-Koreans participating in international events.

School teachers and professionals specialized in international laws and geography wrote the two books published by the Northeast Asian History Foundation. The books will be also available at the Korea.net (www.korea.net).
