President Park sends her condolences to the people of Singapore on the passing of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. She will attend his funeral in Singapore on March 29.
I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and offer my deepest sympathy and condolences to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his family as well as the people of Singapore.
Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew developed Singapore into a global financial and logistics hub and an advanced nation over 31 years, as its founding father and leader with extraordinary skills and forward-looking insights. He dedicated himself to transforming Singapore into a leading country on the international stage, and many around the world, including in Korea, respect his achievements.
He built a special affinity with Korea by visiting the country on several occasions and became our friend who shared invaluable wisdom for the advancement of Korea-Singapore relations.
I pray for the repose of the soul of Prime Minister Lee, a leader held in high esteem by his fellow countrymen and a great inspiration to leaders across the globe.
