President Park Geun-hye sent a letter of consolation to her Nepali counterpart President Ram Baran Yadav on April 27, in response to the massive earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25.

President Park Geun-hye expresses her deepest condolences in a letter to Nepali President Ram Baran Yadav and his people on April 27, in response to the recent earthquake that shook Nepal on April 25.



“The people of South Korea and I are deeply heartbroken to know that the devastating earthquake has claimed countless lives," President Park wrote in her letter. “We extend our deepest condolences to the victims in this disaster and their bereaved families, as well as to the Nepali people and President Ram Baran Yadav who are now certainly in deep shock and sorrow."

“We hope that under the leadership of President Ram Baran Yadav," she continued, “the damage caused by this disaster will be fixed quickly and the people of Nepal will be able to overcome the shock and sadness as soon as possible.”

The Korean government pledged on April 26 to send a search and rescue team to earthquake-devastated Nepal, as well as provide USD 1 million in humanitarian aid.
