Korea and Bulgaria intend to increase bilateral exchanges in the study of sports and international sporting events, as well as between related sporting and athletic organizations.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Bulgarian Ministry of Youth and Sports signed and exchanged a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate on sports on May 14. The MOU was signed during Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev's trip to Korea. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Kim Jongdeok and Bulgarian Minister of Youth and Sports Krassen Kralev signed the MOU on behalf of their countries.

Under the MOU, the two sides agreed to expand athletic exchanges between related institutions as well as in the study of sports. They agreed to encourage participation in international sporting events held in the other nation and to cooperate on the prevention of doping.
