The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS) and the Northeast Asian History Foundation have now joined hands. The two organizations are specialized in international public relations and in research and policy developments in the areas of understanding history and in speaking about national territory.

The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on June 2 at the Northeast Asian History Foundation in Seodaemun-gu District, Seoul. The establishment of the MOU was based on the understanding that the two organizations could cooperate to promote an appropriate understanding of historical facts, particularly on issues and problems concerning modern interpretations of history and national territory. Also, the two organizations agreed that it is meaningful to create a tie this year, as it marks the 70th anniversary of the nation's independence and the 50th year of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between Seoul and Tokyo.

Moving forward, the two organizations will work together to host events related to the nation's 70th independence anniversary and marking the 50th year of modern bilateral ties between Korea and Japan, and to raise awareness and to correct perceptions about history, among other things.

All the progress made by the two organizations will be reflected on Korea.net, the Korean government's multi-language portal run by KOCIS, and its affiliated social networking profiles.
