President Park Geun-hye attended the celebration ceremony in honor of China's victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression on Sept. 3 in Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
The anniversary was attended by leaders from 30 countries and other high-level officials from around the globe, as well as representatives from international organizations, including the U.N. and the WHO.
The origin of the event dates back to 1945. As the Japanese government formally surrendered to all allied forces, including China, on Sept. 2 that year, the Chinese government marked the very next day, Sept. 3, as an anniversary to honor its victory in the war.
