The 2015 International Agricultural Exhibition has opened in Naju, the historical granary town in Jeollanam-do Province (South Jeolla Province). A variety of programs will be offered during the exhibition, which runs from Oct. 15 to Nov. 1.

The exhibition consists of twelve exhibition halls divided into four themes: Creative Agriculture, Healing Agriculture, Interactive Public Relations and a Theme Park.

The Creative Agriculture and Interactive Public Relations sections focus on the organic food industry and the future of agriculture. The Agricultural Future hall screens 360-degree videos about the future of farming that feature smart farms operated through a farmer's smartphone and even farms in space. The Agricultural Climate Change hall explains the evolution of agriculture under the rapidly changing environment of the Earth. Cutting-edge technologies, including high-tech glass greenhouses, are also on display.

Visitors stroll through a trellis tunnel festooned with gourds and other vines at the 2015 International Agriculture Exhibition in Naju (top). The exhibition has farm animals, too, with small herds of sheep and goats welcoming the visitors to the exhibition (bottom).

For families, there is the Healing Agriculture section and the various hands-on activities. The trellis tunnel covered in gourds and the tomato garden in the Healing Agriculture section provide visitors with the opportunity to enjoy fresh air away from the busy, crowded pace of day-to-day urban life. Picking sweet potatoes and peanuts allow people to feel the joy of growing what they eat. For younger visitors and for the young at heart, the farm animals are a must-see attraction. Children will be able to learn from the experience, seeing and touching the animals with their own eyes and hands and communicating directly with them.

For visitors from other regions, shuttle buses run from Songjeong Station in Gwangju to the exhibition site. You can catch a KTX to Gwangju from Seoul with a 30 percent discount if you buy the exhibition entrance tickets together with the train tickets. You can find more details in English at the exhibition's website.
