Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has emphasized the close relationship between Korea and China.
“The annual trade volume between our two countries has reached USD 300 billion, showing a 60-fold increase over the past 20 years. The annual volume of people-to-people exchanges between us has exceeded 10 million,” said the Chinese premier in his contribution to the Chosun Ilbo, a newspaper.
He further highlighted the fact that, “Both countries need to deepen their mutual trust in the long term so that Seoul-Beijing ties can shine ever brighter.”

In his article in the Chosun Ilbo on Oct. 30, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang urged both Korea and China to incubate innovative startups and to cooperate on strategic, emerging industries as new economic growth engines.
In his article, titled “Let’s continue the 1,000-year Korea-China friendship," Premier Li said, “Both countries should also focus on the world, while still concentrating on bilateral relations.”
“Both countries should actively carry out structural reforms, industrialization, job creation in innovative sectors, and strategic cooperation on emerging industries in order to generate new economic growth engines in Korea-China cooperation.
“Korea and China need to harden the foundation of public opinion through closer exchanges. Both countries need to enhance cooperation and widen exchange channels so that there can be more exchanges between the two peoples,” said Premier Li.
“Through in-depth exchanges between youth, in particular, I hope the torch of Korea-China friendship can shine ever further,” said the premier.
He also said that both countries should create the future together by protecting peace.
“Together with Korea and other related countries, China hopes to create a bright future for the people of Northeast Asia by protecting peace, all while looking at our reflection in the mirror of history," said the Chinese premier.
During his official Korea visit, Premier Li said that he will hold meetings with Korean leaders and influential figures across a wide range of sectors to discuss measures to advance the bilateral political relationship in order to develop the Korea-China relationship and bilateral cooperation in a broader context.
On a smaller scale, he said his Korea visit would help solve technical issues surrounding some Korean exports to China, including exports of Korean kimchi and chicken soup with ginseng, or
samgyetang, so that in the future more Chinese people will be able to serve traditional Korean food on their table.
