A wide selection of sign language video books will become available to deaf readers in Korea this year.

Knowing that deaf people learn best visually, and that they learn to connect letters and words through sign language, the National Library of Korea has decided to expand its collection of sign language video books. Once completed, the expanded list will include 400 titles that cover 150 translated children's books by non-Korean authors, 150 children's books in Korean and 100 other books.

The National Library of Korea will add some 400 sign language video books to its online library to better cater to the needs of deaf readers.

Sign language video books are also available via the National Library's mobile app.

Currently there are around 1,500 sign language video book titles available at the National Library's website (http://nlid.nl.go.kr/) and through the library's mobile app. A partial selection of the video books is distributed in DVD format to welfare centers and to associations or organizations for the disabled.
