The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS) and the People's Daily, two representative promotional organizations of the Seoul and Beijing governments, respectively, have agreed to further develop their budding partnership.
Director Park Younggoog of KOCIS, representing the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Zhou Yubo, head of the Korea branch of the People's Daily Online, signed a memorandum of understanding at the Seoul offices of the Chinese online newspaper, at the Foreign Press Center Korea in downtown Seoul on March 24.
The two organizations have agreed to: work on joint projects to promote Korean and Chinese traditions and languages; build partnerships between Korea.net (www.korea.net) and the People's Daily Online Korea (korea.people.cn); develop projects together and share articles; expand the partnership between Korean and Chinese media, including the invitation of Chinese journalists and reporters; and, lastly, to collaborate on the Korean government's promotional projects that take place across China.
To seal the new friendship, the two agencies have decided to film a Korean language educational TV show that will air nationwide in China on the China Education Television (CETV) network. The program is expected to be the first Korean language educational program ever aired on Chinese TV.
