President Park Geun-hye expresses her condolences in a telegram to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on July 27 in regard to recent terrorist attacks in the two countries.





President Park Geun-hye sent telegrams to express her condolences to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on July 27 in regard to recent separate terrorist attacks in Germany and Afghanistan.

In the message to the German chancellor, President Park said, “I would like to express my sympathy to the German people who are in deep sorrow and pain because of a series of attacks that targeted civilians. I would also like to express my condolences to the victims and to the bereaved families, and I hope for a quick recovery for those who are injured.”

The president said that, "An act of terror against innocent civilians can never be justified nor accepted under any circumstances. The Korean government supports the German government’s efforts to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and will join in solidarity with the international community on that matter.”

“I believe that the citizens of Germany will overcome today’s sorrow and come together united under your strong leadership,” she added.

In the message to Kabul, President Park told Afghan President Ashraf Ghani that, “I was deeply shocked to hear about the terrorist attack in Kabul that took many innocent lives. I would like to express my condolences to the innocent victims who lost their lives and to their bereaved families. I also hope for a quick recovery for those are injured.”

“Terrorism is a crime against humanity and civilization and should neither be justified nor tolerated under any circumstances. The Korean government strongly condemns the terrorist attacks and supports the Afghan government in the days to come in its ongoing efforts to strengthen the military and police as part of its response to terrorism,” said the president in the message.

“I hope that the Afghan people can quickly overcome the shock and sorrow of this terrorist attack and concentrate on stability and on rebuilding the country under your leadership,” she concluded.
