"If this world is a book, a page called Korea can present touching and interesting stories to all the world's readers."

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Cho Yoonsun spoke with author Patricia Schultz on Sept. 21, quoting from her book. Schultz is the author of the book "1,000 Places to See Before You Die" and is currently visiting Seoul from Sept. 18 by invitation of the Korea Tourism Organization.

The minister told Schultz that she can play a role as a guide for tourists visiting Korea so that they could explore, dream and discover Korea as much as possible.

"1,000 Places to See Before You Die" lists some of the better-known travel destinations for world travelers. The book was a New York Times No. 1 best-selling book in 2003, the year it was published, and since has been translated into some 20 different languages. Seoul's Dongdaemun Design Plaza and five royal palaces featured in the book after its second edition put out in 2011.

Schultz will travel across Korea visiting Seoul, Pyeongchang, Gyeongju and Jeju Island until Sept. 26. Her travelogue will be published in "Travel Weekly," a U.S. magazine. Finally, Pyeongchang, a city which she looks forward to visiting, will be featured in the 2018 "1,000 Places to See Before You Die" calendar.
