Korea and its Asian neighbors have been sharing their knowledge and experiences in the establishment of resident registration systems.
The Ministry of Interior invited 12 government officials from Laos, Sri Lanka and Myanmar who are in charge of resident registration systems in their own countries to come to Seoul for the 2016 Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Resident Registration of Korea.
During their visit, they will participate in an invitational workshop program scheduled from Oct. 25 to Nov. 4 at the Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute, where they will learn about the enactment of Korea’s resident registration law and its overall development process.

Program participants will widen their overall understanding of Korea’s resident registration system. They will review the current status of resident registration programs in their home countries, and discuss future directions for their development. The program involves visits to government organizations that use resident registration information, such as neighborhood government offices, financial institutions, the National Election Commission, the National Computing and Information Service and the Korea Minting, Security Printing & ID Card Operating Corporation.
