President Moon Jae-in has appointed the minister of government legislation, the second vice minister of strategy and finance, the second vice minister of culture, sports and tourism, the first vice minister of land, infrastructure and transport and the secretary general of the National Unification Advisory Council, all on June 9.
“Vice President Kim Oe Sook from the Korean Women Lawyers Association was designated as the minister of government legislation. President Kim Yong Jin of Korea East-West Power was nominated as the second vice minister of strategy and finance. Chairman Roh Tae Kang of the Korea Sports Safety Foundation was named to be the second vice minister of culture, sports and tourism. Son Byeong Seok, an official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, was promoted to the position of first vice minister. Finally, Professor Hwang In Sung from Hanshin University was named as the secretary general of the National Unification Advisory Council,” announced Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Park Soo-hyun.
Park introduced Minister of Government Legislation Kim as “a labor human rights lawyer who devoted herself to the rights of the socially disadvantaged, such as women and children.”
Park also said that Second Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance Kim “is knowledgeable in budget and public policies, as he has served as a government official before and has excellent expertise and a strong driving force.”
He said that Second Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Roh is “an official who is well-versed in sports” and said that “he is the right person to prepare for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games without setback.”
Concerning First Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Son, Park said that “he is a planning expert who has been through major positions in the field of land and transport.”
Finally, the spokesperson said that newly-designated Secretary General of the National Unification Advisory Council Hwang is “a qualified leader who served as a civil society activist” and that he has "plenty of experience and insight for the reconciliation of North and South, and a peaceful unification.”
