High-level talks between the two Koreas will be held between the Korean Ministry of Unification and the North Korean Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea (CPRK) at the Panmunjeom Peace House on June 1.

The two sides will discuss the execution of the Panmunjeom Declaration, which was adopted following the April 27 Inter-Korean Summit.

Minister of Unification Cho Myoung-Gyon said in a policy briefing to EU nations on May 30 that, "The two sides will negotiate the details of setting up a jointly operated communications office, and discuss some joint projects that we can launch at the present time."

The attendees from the South will include Minister Cho as well as Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Roh Tae-kang, Vice Minister of Transport Kim Jeong-ryeol, head of the ministry's unification policy office Kim Nam-jung, and deputy director-general Ahn Moon-hyun from the Prime Minister's Office. Should cooperation on forestry be discussed, a representative from the Korea Forest Service will attend as well.

The North, led by Chairman Ri Son-gwon of the CPRK, will send Vice Minister of Railroads Kim Yun-hyok, Vice Minister of Sports Won Kil-u, Vice Chairman Pak Yong-il of the CPRK, and Vice Chairman Pak Myong-chol of the National Economic Cooperation Committee.

The Ministry of Unification stated, "We will discuss ways to swiftly and systematically carry out the measures outlined by the Panmunjeom Declaration during the high-level talks."
