President Moon Jae-in sent a congratulatory letter to Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and Myanmar President Win Myint to mark the 45th anniversary of bilateral relations this year, Cheong Wa Dae said on May 20.

The two countries formed diplomatic ties on May 16, 1975.

The leaders of both countries lauded the development of close bilateral cooperation in many sectors including economy, society and culture since establishing relations in 1975. They also agreed that their ties have grown stronger than ever thanks to two bilateral summits held last year.

Korea and Myanmar also agreed to work together to prudently overcome the coronavirus pandemic based on bilateral trust and friendship, and to further boost relations.
