From next month, people entering multipurpose facilities like restaurants can verify their COVID-19 vaccination records by inputting their QR codes.
The government task force on COVID-19 vaccination on June 22 said, "We are developing for each platform company a function that adds electronic verification of COVID-19 vaccination to QR check-in."
The plan is to launch the function from July 12.
Popular mobile apps such as Naver and Kakao Talk allow users to input their QR codes upon entry to multipurpose facilities for use in contact tracing if an infection occurs.
Once e-verification is integrated into QR check-in, simple authentication of those vaccinated will be possible through the existing electronic system of checking in. For those who got vaccines requiring two doses, the QR codes will not only confirm if users got their shots but also how many.
A task force official said that to prevent fraud in vaccination verification, a function that prevents capturing Coov, a mobile app for electronically verifying a user's vaccination history, will be added.
