President Moon Jae-in has sent a message to French President Emmanuel Macron congratulating the latter's reelection for a second term.
President Moon on April 26 wrote on his social network accounts that he sincerely congratulates his French counterpart for earning a second term and that he hopes President Macron's leadership will help continued development in France.
"Since you succeeded in winning a second term as president, something that has not happened for 20 years, I believe this proves the reaffirmation of broad support and approval from the French people," he said. "While jointly overcoming difficulties for more than a century, the Republic of Korea and France have deepened cooperation in various sectors such as government affairs, economy and culture."
"I am delighted to have reaffirmed the bilateral comprehensive partnership during my state visit to France in 2018."
President Moon said, "I expect bilateral relations to grow stronger during your second term," adding, "I wish you success and eternal development for France."
