The government has announced six national policy goals, 23 pledges and 120 national policy tasks.

At the 33rd meeting of the Cabinet on July 26 chaired by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, the Office for Government Policy Coordination (OGPC) said it decided on a "management plan for national policy goals" to quickly achieve its vision for national governance dubbed "The Republic of Korea again achieves major progress as a country of the people where everyone lives well together."

To implement the vision, the office designated six policy goals while reflecting a future-oriented view and announced its intent to resolve regional imbalance in the four basic areas of politics and administration, economy, society, and foreign affairs and national defense.

The six goals are "a decent country with common sense restored"; "a dynamic economy led by the private sector and backed by the government"; "a warm society that accompanies all to make them happy"; "a bold future through volunteerism and creativity"; "a global pivot country that contributes to freedom, peace and prosperity"; and "a regional era making everywhere in the Republic of Korea good to live in."

To speedily accomplish the 120 tasks, the government will form a cooperative structure among related organizations including the presidential office, the OGPC and related ministries. It will also quickly resolve any disagreements raised among by the ministries through meetings of the mediation committee led by the prime minister.

The administration will also bolster promotion so that more people can realize any changes made in the process of achieving policy goals and raise on-site communication. It will also improve communication onsite and that with the media by encouraging ministers or vice ministers to visit sites, hold media briefings, appear on broadcast content and promote major policies of each ministry.
