The Office of the President on Oct. 23 released its new logo symbolizing freedom, peace and prosperity.

The logo shows two phoenixes and the national flower Mugunghwa (rose of Sharon) against the backdrop of the presidential building in Seoul's Yongsan-gu District.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Lee Jae-myoung told a briefing that day at the office in Yongsan-gu, "The presidential office's new logo symbolizes the Republic of Korea's freedom, peace and prosperity," adding, "The phoenixes surround the government office building to represent wishing for the Republic of Korea's freedom and peace through stability and harmony."

"The symbol embodies the presidential office and represents the beginning of the Yongsan era and a powerful leap ahead," he said. "By being placed in the middle of the Yongsan-gu presidential office building, the Mugunghwa, or 'the flower that blooms forever,' represents the heart of the presidential office serving the people and the wish for the Republic of Korea's everlasting prosperity."

The letters below the logo read, "Republic of Korea's Office of the President." Emblematic of the central government, the fonts are commonly used by major public organizations.

The logo will go through a final manual inspection to finalize overall usage details such as size and color before its full use slated for next month. Its main color is indigo blue and gold is the secondary hue.

The symbol will be used in a variety of items like the president's website, promotional goods used at home and abroad, and souvenirs.
