President Yoon Suk Yeol on July 13 discussed bilateral cooperation over dinner with Polish President Andrzej Duda and earlier at a luncheon with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
"We hope that bilateral economic cooperation will expand from sectors like defense and nuclear energy to future high-tech industries like electric vehicles and IT," President Yoon and his Polish counterpart were quoted as saying at their dinner by the Office of the President in Seoul.
"In this era of complicated crisis, solidarity for freedom is important to safeguard a rules-based international order," President Yoon said. "Let both countries protect the values of freedom and democracy under the spirit of solidarity."
"I thank President Yoon and his wife for making an official visit to Poland," President Duda added. "I'm happy over the fruitful consultations on bolstering bilateral cooperation in various sectors like economy, defense and culture."
"I hope that President Yoon's visit is an opportunity to boost the strategic bilateral partnership."
Earlier in the day, President Yoon attended a luncheon hosted by Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki and proposed promising areas for bilateral cooperation and Ukraine's reconstruction.
"Let's redouble joint efforts to expand cooperation," President Yoon added.
He also urged more bilateral cooperation to resolve the challenges of Korean companies entering Poland.
The Office of the President said Prime Minister Morawiecki sought Korea's cooperation to help Ukraine's reconstruction.
President Yoon also asked for Polish support for Busan's bid to host the 2030 World Expo, and the prime minister pledged to actively review the request.
