President Yoon Suk Yeol on July 14 sent wishes for "a speedy recovery" to former U.S. President Donald Trump, who survived an assassination attempt on July 13 at a campaign rally for his presidential campaign in Pennsylvania.

On his X account, President Yoon wrote, "I am appalled by the hideous act of political violence," adding "The people of Korea stand in solidarity with the people of America."

Presidential spokesperson Kim Soo-kyung said in a news release, "Matters related to the attack on former President Trump were immediately reported to President Yoon, who expressed his regret and wished former President Trump a speedy recovery."

On the afternoon of July 13 near Butler, Pennsylvania, the former U.S. leader was shot at a rally for his presidential election campaign.
