Jeong Eun-Hae, president of the Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Research Center of Korea, has been appointed vice chair of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) Environment Policy Committee, the Ministry of Environment said on Jan. 13.

She will serve a three-year term.

The committee discusses and approves the directions and budgets of OECD projects related to environment policy, and devises cost-effective measures in environmental sectors such as climate change, water and biodiversity.

Jeong is the first Korean vice chair of the committee since 2007.

The ministry said it will use her appointment as an opportunity to boost the country's global leadership in the environmental sector so that Korea's stance is actively reflected in international discussions.
