The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has given Korea the top ratings for regulatory policy and governance among member countries.
The Office for Government Policy Coordination under the Prime Minister's Secretariat on April 9 said the nation scored highly in all major indicators of the OECD's 2025 Regulatory Policy Outlook.
Released every three years since 2015, the report was officially released on April 9 at the second regular meeting of the OECD Regulatory Policy Committee in Paris.
The outlook contains the regulatory policy trends and best practices of each OECD member country, along with the results and content of related evaluations. This year's edition had analyses of the regulatory policies of 38 OECD member states from 2021-23 and comprehensive evaluations of policy outcomes in three major areas: regulatory impact assessment, ex post evaluation and stakeholder engagement.
Korea topped the first two sections and received the highest rating in the OECD's newly added transparency index.
Second Vice Minister of Government Policy Coordination Nam Hyung Ki said, "Given Korea's global recognition as a regulatory leader, we will continue expanding cooperation with international organizations including the OECD to share our superior regulatory policy and governance systems."
