President Lee Jae Myung has held his first phone conversation with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, discussing raising bilateral cooperation.

Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung on June 30 said in a written briefing that both leaders agreed to form a "strategic partnership" to mark the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations this year.

They also pledged to expedite strategic cooperation in a wide range of areas including peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and future growth sectors such as artificial intelligence and digital technology.

President Lee said he looked forward to Prime Minister Wong's participation in this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.

Prime Minister Wong responded by saying he believes Korea will successfully host the APEC Summit and urged more active high-level exchanges through various opportunities.
