Prime Minister Kim Min-seok on July 23 chaired a meeting at Government Complex-Seoul on the comprehensive review of preparation for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, with about 100 days before the event's launch.

In his keynote speech under the theme "K-APEC! The People Will Ultimately Do It," he pledged to carefully review the overall infrastructure, cultural content and services and prepare for a successful summit by setting clear performance indicators.

At the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on the theme of the summit, development of infrastructure like accommodations and preparation of programs, while the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry shared updates on things like invitations of global corporations in fields such as big tech, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and finance.

The private sector also pledged an active role in their respective areas of expertise to help achieve Prime Minister Kim's "K-APEC" vision.

In addition, the APEC organizing committee that day also appointed K-pop artist G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong) as the promotional ambassador for the summit.

The committee said, "As a symbol of creativity and innovation, G-Dragon is the ideal person to effectively convey the values of connectivity and sustainability that APEC seeks to promote both at home and abroad."

G-Dragon also posted a photo of his certificate of appointment on his social media, saying, "It's an honor to be part of this."

Starting with the appointment ceremony, the celebrity will take part in APEC activities such as appearing in related content and attending events.
