The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) High-Level Dialogue on Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) will be held from Aug. 26-28 in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.

The event is the first gathering of culture ministers from the 21 APEC member states.

Chaired by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Chae Hwi-young, the dialogue will feature the theme "CCI: New Horizons for Prosperity" and be divided into three sections: connect, innovate and prosper. A resolution on the body's commitment to continued regional cooperation will follow.

A banquet featuring the main ingredients and traditional alcoholic beverages of Gyeongju will be held on Aug. 26 at Wooyang Art Museum in the city. It will also feature Korean content that is gaining global recognition.

The regular session on Aug. 27 includes an opening ceremony, announcement of results, closing ceremony and media briefing. An official tourism program is slated for the next day.

"This high-level dialogue will offer an opportunity for Korea to share with the world its abundant cultural experience and creativity," Minister Choi said. "We hope that this opens a new chapter of cooperation in which culture leads the economy."
