President Lee Jae-Myung says he reaffirmed strong bilateral trust with the U.S. through his recent summit in Washington after returning home early on Aug. 28 from his four-day visit to the U.S.

On his official social media, he gave his assessment of the summit's results, saying, "This visit was a meaningful opportunity to design a sustainable future for the Republic of Korea and discuss in depth a shared vision with the U.S. for security on the Korean Peninsula and ultimately global peace and prosperity."

"Most importantly, it was meaningful that my candid talks with President Trump enabled us to build deep trust and confirm the steadfastness of our bilateral alliance."

He added, "Beyond our military and security alliance, the two countries will cement their strategic partnership of mutual growth in diverse sectors such as the economy, advanced technology and supply chains."

"This summit provided in-depth discussions on the multifaceted challenges of both countries, so we will do our best to execute so that the people can feel the results in their lives as soon as possible."

"The government will continue responding nimbly to the flow of the times based on 'pragmatic diplomacy centered on national interests,'" President Lee added. "We will do everything to ensure that the Republic of Korea stands tall as a pivotal state fulfilling its global responsibility and role on the world stage."
