President Lee Jae Myung on April 7 over the phone congratulated Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on his reelection.

Prime Minister Anutin earned a second term last month after his conservative Pheu Thai Party won a landslide victory in the general elections in February.

He thanked President Lee for his congratulatory message, saying, "Amid global uncertainty, Thailand places high priority on cooperation with Korea, a strategic partner."

The prime minister also expressed hope for further development of bilateral relations after his reelection.

Both leaders pledged to deepen cooperation in sectors such as economy, national security, public safety and cultural exchange.

They also agreed on close cooperation to reach an early conclusion of their Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which is undergoing negotiations, and help resolve the instability of global energy supply chains caused by the conflict in the Middle East.

Prime Minister Anutin lauded Korea's efforts and policy to mitigate tension on the Korean Peninsula and pledged his solid support. President Lee in response expressed his gratitude and asked for Thailand's continuous interest and support.
