President Lee Jae Myung on May 7 in a phone call with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in cutting-edge industries such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI).

"This meaningful year marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and the Netherlands" President Lee said, hailing the mutually beneficial development of the bilateral strategic partnership.

He also expressed his intent to cooperate in devising methods to expand substantive cooperation in cutting-edge sectors such as AI and quantum computing in addition to semiconductors.

Prime Minister Yetten said he hoped to maintain strong bilateral cooperation in semiconductors, a sector of high strategic value, and promote ties in other fields such as batteries and offshore wind power.

The two leaders stressed the importance of their partnership in the wake of growing global jitters over the war in the Middle East and agreed to continue close communication.
