President Lee Jae Myung and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh on July 9 adopted a joint declaration to usher in a "golden age" of bilateral ties after their summit at the Government Palace in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

President Lee arrived earlier that day on a state visit to the country.

At a joint news announcement after their talks, President Lee said, "The most significant outcome of this summit was that the leaders of both countries reaffirmed their shared vision of ushering in a 'golden age' of bilateral ties and adopted a joint declaration outlining the development of relations."

He began his schedule with an official welcoming ceremony at Sukhbaatar Square before moving to the Government Palace, where he held a friendly chat and bilateral summit with President Khurelsukh.

Immediately after their talks, both leaders attended a signing ceremony for 21 agreements and memorandums of understanding covering economic security and supply chains.

He also pledged to expand cooperation in economy, trade and investment and boost ties in supply chains and critical minerals, building on the conclusion of a comprehensive economic partnership agreement under the goal of achieving bilateral trade of USD 1 billion by 2030.

"We agreed to raise cultural and people-to-people exchanges, the foundation of our friendly sentiment," he added. "We will expand cooperation to pass on the historical ties and common experiences shared by our two countries to future generations.

"Both sides agreed to further boost cooperation on the international stage," he said, adding that they also reached a consensus on stronger relations to promote stability and development in Northeast Asia.
