The Seoul Kimchi Festival will be held from Nov. 1-3 at Seoul Plaza, with 50 tons of cabbage to be used in kimchi-making activities. The event is free and the kimchi made will be given to the needy. Participants who wish to take home the kimchi they made can bring up to 5 kg for KRW 30,000. The festival was launched in 2014 to commemorate the 2013 inclusion of
gimjang, or the traditional process of preparation and preservation of kimchi, on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
