Spend the weekend on an island adventure with the R.A.S., as we explore Namhaedo Island on the Korean peninsula's southernmost coast and Jinhae, the most famous place in the country for famous cherry blossoms. We will leave from the Yongsan Post Office on Saturday at 7:30 a.m for the long drive down to the beautiful island of Namhaedo. We should arrive at about 1:00 p.m., and begin our exploration of this fascinating area with a visit to Iraksa, a small shrine with lovely ocean views that is the site of the last battle of Korea's most famous military hero, Admiral Yi Sun-shin, who died here fighting the Japanese on November 19, 1598. It is covered with camellia trees which bloom about this time of the year.
