Margaret Quarter presents a four-day arts festival from 15 to 18 May
The Hello Margit! Festival is organized by the Budapest II District Municipality and Margaret Quarter, the district’s Urban Revitalization Program, with a focus on Margaret Boulevard and its surrounding neighborhood. Nearly 50 venues will host more than 100 programs, offering a vibrant range of activities for visitors.
Over the four days, guests can enjoy theatre performances, gallery exhibitions, classical and popular music concerts, literary events, designer walks, and local history tours. Highlights also include open houses, premiere film screenings, and a new initiative: a community book tour for reading enthusiasts at the Fény Utcai Market, organized by Libertine.
The opening event, the Women's Shifting Festival, will take place at the Marczibányi Square Cultural Centre, this year exploring the theme “The Power of Community.”
As part of the festival, the Quarter’s galleries and exhibition spaces will host a sparkling evening (Pezsgő Margit) full of art and celebration. The Korean Cultural Center in Hungary will present its latest temporary exhibition, Royal Palace, which delves into the history of Korean royal embroidery. Featuring the work of master embroiderer Lee Jungsook, the exhibit unveils the rich symbolism found in Choson-era court textiles, Buddhist motifs, and decorative everyday objects.
On 15 May, the Center will remain open until 10 p.m., offering free guided tours, as well as handcraft programs including Korean knotting, calligraphy, and patchwork related to the exhibition. The events commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day.
All events are free of charge, and visitors are warmly invited to join us for a glass of champagne!
