The ninth Yeouido Spring Flower Festival is being held in Yeouiseo-ro (Yunjung-no, the road behind the National Assembly) in mid-April. The highlight of the celebration is 1,600 cherry trees originated from Jeju Island. Azaleas, forsythia, royal azaleas, and other spring flowers are also in full bloom. The festival has been well-loved for years. The opening ceremony starting on April 12 will feature a singing competition, street performances, a cartoon character parade, art exhibitions, and flower coaches. Cars have limited access to the road around the National Assembly building during the festival period so that visitors can enjoy the blossoms and festivities freely. At night, the cherry blossoms are lit up with various colored lights.
