One of the world’s most sought-after sopranos, Sumi Jo returns to the Sydney Opera House for her only Australian concert appearance.

‘There was a kind of connectedness and beauty that made one want to hear her sing again.’

The New York Times

2011 marks the 25th anniversary of the international opera debut of the world famous soprano Sumi Jo.

Praised for her remarkable agility, precision and warmth of her voice, Sumi Jo has established herself as one of her generation’s most sought after sopranos.

For one night only at the Sydney Opera House on 1 December, Sumi Jo will make her only Australian concert appearance as she takes to the stage with the Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra conducted by Brian Castles-Onion and a special guest tenor, for this unique recital.

Performing arias from Verdi’s La Traviata, Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffman, Lehár’s The Merry Widow, Meyerbeer’s L’ Étoile du Nord (The North Star) and the ever popular O mio babbino caro from Puccini’s Gianni Schichi, the concert promises to be an unforgettable night of opera from this legendary soprano.
