Consul General Won-sam Chang participated in the Ambassador for Peace Medal Ceremony hosted by Senator Pat Toomey from Pennsylvania on Wednesday, August 25. Eleven Korean War veterans were awarded the medals. Amb. Chang expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Korean government and people to the veterans for their sacrifice. The Korean government created the medals in 1975 to honor the service and sacrifice of Korean War veterans and their surviving families.

Seventy people attended the event, including 40 family members of medal recipients, PA State Senator Mike Regan, Director Geoff Mangelsdorf of US Army Heritage and Education Center, and Command Sergeant Major Brian Florm of US Army War College. In his speech, Amb. Chang emphasized the critical importance of the alliance between Korea and the United States, forged by the brave sacrifice of Korean War veterans during the war. He also noted that the Summit Meeting between Korean and US presidents in May served to reaffirm the shared values and vision of the two countries as partners.
