[K-Food] Daegu Flatplings with Ddeokbokki | Travelling Korea from the Kitchen
Flatplings, Napjak Mandu(Literally "Flat Dumplings") is a specialty in the inland Korean city of Daegu. They are very flat, semi-circular pan-fried dumplings with minimal fillings. There are many theories on how these dumplings came about in Daegu. One of those theories are that they were invented during the Korean War, when ingredients to make dumpling fillings were scarce. People had to make the dumplings very flat, which serendipitously resulted in a new form of dumplings that were very crisp and tasty. These days, flatplings are loved by people in the Daegu area, and others in Korea who know about them. People have them with a side of salad, or as we can see in the video, with red and spicy tteokbokki, a well-known Korean street food.
